This is a piece of 'gear' that some human was unhappy about losing & perhaps went hungry because of it.

It is approx 4 inches long and I believe it is pink obsidian. I know of a local person that may be able to give me a further explanation of this stone tool. If I find out more, or if you gentle reader, have any comments & ideas I will follow up on what I learn. Also will try & take a better picture, this one was taken on-site with a camera phone (I did move & stage next to flowers & contrasting rocks)

The Leatherman Original PST Multi-Tool has stood the test of time. Simple, durable & functional. The original flagship in multi-tools.

This Leatherman Original had been a standard in my gear collection for quite some time. Amazingly I have had this one for years because multi-tools are exactly the type of outdoor equipment that I always seem to misplace. Somewhere in another dimension is a box with my name on it filled with Swiss army knifes and multi-tools. I did lose the leather case for this one though soon after I got it.

Though there are much fancier tools now on the market, both by Leatherman and many other companies, this original has not suffered for it's simplicity. With the basic tools a person would need it has come in useful countless times. The stainless steel Leatherman Original PST is equipped with:

Knife

Needlenose Pliers

Regular Pliers

Awl

Wire Cutter

Phillips Screwdriver

Small, Medium & Large Screwdrivers

Bottle Opener

Can Opener

Metal/Wood File

8in/20cm Ruler

This tool sells new with a leather case and comes with a 25 year guarantee. This one has seen quite a bit of use and still works very well - all of the connections are tight and the pliers still work great. As a reasonably priced multi-tool with basic functionality this original standard still represents itself well. I must admit if I was shopping for a new one I would probably check the multi-tool reviews on something fancier, particularly with a locking blade. But I won't give this old friend up and I expect it to serve me well for many more years as long as I don't lose it.
